South West Sports Boat Rally, Brixham: 28th - 30th May 2016Registration has now closed - but please look out for next year
Our event was born of a desire to meet other like-minded sports boat enthusiasts, cruise with the added confidence of other boats and to share some of the diverse and exciting waters around South Devon.
We average about 18 boats a year, but have had as many as 25, and while we focus on the fun and social aspect, we also offer cruises, pub raffle, info talks, BBQ etc., see further below for more on all the other great aspects our rally offers. So whether you are a seasoned boater looking to join a great group, or more of a novice with your first boat, we offer a wealth of knowledge and immense fun for all. Our 6th annual rally will be held on 28th to 30th May over the bank holiday weekend. Our rally is open to all sports boats under the 25' category, and registration is required to secure your place. So please visit our registration page now, spaces are limited. We charge just £25 per boat which includes pontoon berthing for the weekend and 10 raffle tickets - it couldn't be better value!
What our annual rally event offers....
Our rally aims to offer everyone something they'll enjoy. We have a fantastic bunch of regulars with new friends joining us every year, we are very family friendly, have a great social scene and enjoy getting together and talking about our boats, chilling out and cruising in company, we even rent a pontoon so you have somewhere to berth. We create a schedule for the event, but are very relaxed about what you do. if you feel a trip is too far, you can choose to go off and do you're own thing or just hang out on the pontoon with the comfort of knowing when we'll arrive back. Check out our 2016 Event page for updated info as it evolves.
Owner community focused Low cost participation Great location Diverse waters Cruise in company Sharing knowledge Comparing boats Meeting other enthusiasts Safety in numbers Beach BBQ Fun & games Night cruise Pontoon based Marina facilities We do try and make sure we cover all the bases, but equally encourage feedback and ideas on how to improve things. We consider this event as a cooperative and love people to get involved, so if you have a specific skill or expertise and you want to share this, please let us know. Droning on....Quadcopter Style....
Many of you will recall Warrick from Higher Definition who kindly gave up his time to film our 2015 rally from the air with his drone quadcopter. However due to unforeseen technical problems his drone failed and decided to film the bottom of the sea instead, so sorry Warrick!
But he’s hoping to be back for 2016 with a new and improved unit (well covered with floatation devices anyway) to film the event again. I’m sure you’ll all join me in thanking him for using his valuable time to get involved and film the rally.
Our New Website....
We hope you like our new website. As we have a new focus on all sports boats we thought a fresh new website was the way to go, and based on your comments so far, well, it looks like we got that right :)
We've now split from the original swfbr website and although we share the same five years of rally history, we're now on a new footing with our new website and sponsors. So we hope you like the new site, and we'll improve it as we move forward but if you'd like to see more info on local stuff, let us know via the contact form and we'll see what we can do. The South West Fletcher Boat Rally website (www.swfbr.org.uk) is the original website created when both Robin and John ran the Fletcher rally. I believe Robin is looking to continue with the Fletcher Rally in 2017, so do check out his site for further details. We've decided not to include any forums or social areas on this site at the moment as there's really no point in competing with the other great sites out there. Our facebook group is working extremely well but we'll drive people back here for more updates on the rally - this site will always hold the latest info, so always check back here. A great range of boats....Over the years now, we've had a great range of boats coming to our rally - but we want more.
Everyone likes to see a varied range, discuss pros and cons, bow riders v cuddy boats, RIB v GRP, cup holders v no cup holders (private joke) etc.. Obviously this is down to owners permission, but many owners have offered to take people out so you can feel what different speed boats are like on the water - you just have to ask them. So far we've had the following brands: Fletcher, SeaRay, Maxum, Doral, Ring, XS Pro, Skipsplast, Bayliner, Regal & Cranchi. |
